WMI has constructed over forty buildings during the past 30 years. In addition, each year WMI completes $5-$8 million in tenant and building improvements for the properties we own and manage. Consequently, WMI has developed considerable skills in construction project management. In 2013 WMI was selected to provide construction management services for Habitat for Humanity's new $9 million headquarters on University Avenue in St. Paul. In addition, WMI recently completed construction on a new $11 million senior housing project on Lake Street in Minneapolis and has just finished construction of a new $3.5 million retail store for Goodwill Easter Seals in Minneapolis.
While Wellington Management typically uses these construction management skills to develop projects for WMI's own portfolio, the company has also been retained on a consulting basis to provide such services to other for-profit and non-profit organizations.
